Willem Poelstra

Poelstra was able to shoot his photographs during the daily work of Amsterdam paramedics. His work is made in a traditional style like the work of classical photographers such as WeeGee and Peter Martens. A no nonsense style in which they are able to show us the hard and sometimes brutal truth. The work is made as if the photographer is not even present at the scene. It makes the viewer think and look even closer at the scene depicted.

This series won first price documentary series at the Zilveren Camera Award.

In August his book about this series called 112* Ambulance Amsterdam was launched.
The first copy was handed over to Wethouder Marijke Vos of the city of Amsterdam.
