Peter Tijhuis

LUX Photo Gallery regularly host guest shows by friends. Peter Tijhuis has his studio also in building Het Sieraad in Amsterdam. 

Peter was raised in the northern city of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Upon leaving home he moved to Amsterdam where he studied Communication Science and Political Science at the University of Amsterdam.

In 2001 he relocated to New York City to explore the world of photography. 
Short programs at the School of Visual Arts and the International Centre of Photography provided Peter with a technical base. Ultimately, he considers himself self-taught.

Peter’s work tends to either focus or comment on composition, showing a strong sensitivity to lines, structure, form and color.
The diversity in subject matter reveals Peter’s wide area of interest, with a particular eye for architecture and cityscapes in combination with portraits.
Peter worked as a studio photographer for a NYC fashion company. Still, he prefers to shoot on location, interacting with available (urban) elements as a backdrop.

In 2005 Peter returned to Amsterdam to establish himself as a photographer
here, using his NY experience, to focus on both commercial as well as personal 
projects.
